Coordinates read from GPS receiver are off

    Hey guys,

I'm developing a location based MIDlet for a S40 device.
I used this example to communicate with the BT GPS receiver:
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph..._Bluetooth_GPS
Everything works perfect, I'm able to connect to my device quite easily, it shows me all the data -
but the coordinates that are read from the device are off by a few miles! When I move, the GPS position also changes but there is always a fixed offset between the coordinates read from the device to where I actually am.
    Anyone has a clue? I'm using a G-SAT BT359W GPS receiver..

    Thanks!

I have not faced such problems using my external BT GPS reciever, duo it was not G-SAT BT but if you facing that and you see a constant offset... just put in some maths and neturalize it.

    thanks,

    Hey,

I figured it out... The coordinates read from the device are in Degrees-Minutes format. When I put the coordinates as read from the device on Google Maps, it showed that I'm in the ocean Google Maps use Decimal Degrees format to show coordinates. I converted the coordinates with the help of this URL: http://www.directionsmag.com/latlong.php and it works perfectly...

    Good day!

Good you resolved it, now I rememeber even one of my trainee's also faced this issue few years back with google map and external GPS.
If you would have mentioned google maps in your post... I would have recollected it.

    thanks,
