    Flash Lite Packaging

    Hi,
I am new to Flash lite development.. I am developing an app for N97, and all other phones with touch interface of same screen size. Please clarify my following doubts...
    1) I have 2 flv files and 30 mp3 files which I have kept in a separate folder and calling it at runtime. Will this effect during packaging since I had plans to convert this swf file to sis file.
    2) If its possible to package and the user stores the app in the memory card. Will the swf file be able to take the correct path, for the videos/mp3 files.
    3) Will this methodology enhance piracy since these files are easily available for user to transfer through Bluetooth or USB Cable once the app. is installed if I am not wrong.

Please help me in this issue and correct me if I am wrong...

    Regards,
    Elmi...

Flash is not the most secure ways for delivering such content. How big will the entire app be? I'm afraid 30 mp3 songs is too much...

you could try using DRM and playing the songs in the native player instead?

    Re: Flash Lite Packaging

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply no i have embedded all the files into flash. The swf file size is coming around " 9 MB " ( Including around 150 images that i have imported into my app ) I have some more questions for you :-

    1) Is it ok to run on a N97 and 5300 music edition phones ?

    2) I have 2 more flv videos which is around 25 MB combined together which as told i have kept in a separate folder.. Can i package my app like it is or do i have to do any changes ?

    Thanks,
    Elmi...

    Re: Flash Lite Packaging

    Hi,

I dont think there would be any issue in packaging all these files. The challenge would be distribution and protection of the media files. It would be difficult to protect the files and you would have to use DRM+native player for the same. I dont think forward lock would suffice. If you use seperate delivery for DRM, you will have to setup key distribution server. Other option wwould be encrypt the files and decrypt it in runtime using native code.

    Re: Flash Lite Packaging

    Hi,

First, little bit of self promotion

You can use SWF2Go 2.5 to make sis package for your Flash Lite application. Latest version supports S60 5th edition devices with upto 32mb allocated memory. Also, you can install the swf in /private folder of app, which provides basic security.

Swfs installed in /private folder are only accessable by same application, and they does not show up in Gallery or File Manager apps.

Your swf file size is quite big, and it might start throwing out of memory errors.

For applications with lot of media content, it is best to create small media libs (separate swfs). And load the swfs as required. This will keep your app in manageable memory.

You can test your application on target devices using Nokia RDA service (forum.nokia.com/rda).

    Hope it helps,
