    Error in Http Connection

    Hi all,
I am developing a mobile application which will get and post some data in the database on the server using Servlet in Apache Tomcat on Server.

Earlier we have our own server to keep the servlet and database. My application was working fine on emulator and real device(Nokia 6212).

Now due to some internal issues of Company they have outsourced the server.

I have installed the same Apache Tomcat 5.5 and Java version 1.6.0 on Server.

My problem is: I have copied the Server part and Database both on server bt my application is not working throwing java.io.IOException: Error in HTTP operation

I am not getting what is the issue as i am not that expert in networking and server configuration.

    For the analysis:
I have checked on server:- http://localhost:8080/Connected where Connected is the webproject containing servlets. It is working.
But when i did like:- http://www.igssg.com:8080/Connected its not able to open the required page.

    Somebody plz help.

    Regards,
    Manmeet

    Re: Error in Http Connection

I have checked on server:- http://localhost:8080/Connected where Connected is the webproject containing servlets. It is working.
But when i did like:- http://www.igssg.com:8080/Connected its not able to open the required page.
This means you are not able to access the URL of the new server http://www.igssg.com:8080/Connected is giving 404 Error means your server part of the software is not deployed correctly.

Are you sure to are deploying your application on port 8080 of the server not 80.

You said you have copied Server part & database both on the server ? how you did it..? did you deploy the server WAR file on the hosting system, did you register your servlet?

    Re: Error in Http Connection

    Hi,

Actually,i have checked on Server:- http://localhost:8080 .It is showing homepage of Tomcat.
    http://localhost:8080/Connectd .It is showing homepage (index.jsp)content .
So,It shuld be deployed on port 8080 not 80.

I deployed the Servlet project on Server by copying the project WAR file in the Webapps folder of Apache Tomcat root directory and then restarted the server .Then the folder gets created for its name there.

And since http://localhost:8080/Connected is opening home page.It means Servlet is deployed correctly on server .
But if I am trying like http://www.igssg.com:8080/Connected.I am not able to access it using URL .It means their is some networking or server configuration issue. Correct me if i am wrong.

What do u mean by Registering Servlet.Explain?

Thanks. Plz help its really an urgent need.

You have one server, when you try http://localhost:8080/Connected its working from the same network LAN but when you are trying to access it from outside with http://www.igssg.com:8080/Connected it fails?

If yes, then the problem is in your Router Config, or the routing table.
The request coming to igssg.com is not routing to your server PC.
    Contact your network admin.

Check on your server, what its IP?

    try http://IP:8080/Connected

If its on public IP, you can use http://IP:8080/Connected from Phone and it will work.

    thanks,
