    getSnapShot blank image

    Hi all,

i'm writing a midlet that takes snapshots from the display using the getsnapShot(encoding=jpeg) method of videoControl interface.
The video is recorded in the device's filesystem and played by the midlet itself.
The snapshots are correctly made but the resulting JPEG images are always blank images.
How can i have correct snapshots?

    Best regards

you can start by calling getSnapshot(null) to get a default image, and then you can try System.getProperty("video.snapshot.encodings"); to check supported encodings.

What device do you work on?

    Re: getSnapShot blank image

    I'm working on a E61.
I read on this link http://www.forum.nokia.com/document/...D8F1EE772.html that:

VideoControl.getSnapshot always returns a blank image if a snapshot is taken from a video content player. Actual snapshots are only supported when a camera locator is used (e.g. device://video, device://devcam0).

This means that if the video is loaded from the device's filesystem the getsnapShot method doesn't work?

    Best regards.

Some people say they have seen it working on Nokia N95 and other devices, please check that the video control is visible on the screen and and video is playing (put a sleep for 2 sec's after playing the video and then try to get the snaphost(null)).

    thanks,

i' ve tried to create .png file with getsnapShot(null) but the images are always blank.

the library article seems pretty straightforward: there is no way to have it working in Java ME

but since you are working on a E61, you can consider an alternative development platform, like Python or C++.

    Hi all,

does anybody known some python script or some C++ library that can help me to extract frames from video files (in 3gp and mp4 format)?
