    Exclamation 6600 Firmware 3.42.1 critical issue(emergency)

    hi, i've suffered from a critical problem on nokia 6600 firmware 3.42.1

    after installing my midlet, when i try to open this game, there's no reply from the system and the game is not able to be launched

    no error message, no hints poped up~

    it is just like I didn't open it.

    Is any have some idea about it?

    p.s(the same copy of jar and jad runs properly on N70 N80)

    Did you developed this game or did you download from somewhere?

    Are the inbuilt games running on the device?
    Thanks with Regards,

    raj_J2ME asked: Did you developed this game or did you download from somewhere?
    Is it a signed application?

    If you developed this application yourself, can you share the source code, esp. the startup of the MIDlet?

    Regards,

    As you say - you are able to install the game Midlet without any issues on 6600, but it fails to launch on the device... means it might be giving some error or uncaught exception in startApp methods, try to put try/catch to see whats happening.... it looks to me that your game is trying to load a lot of resources in the memory on startup which overflows the heap memory and it stuck's.

    thanks,
    Ekta

    Hi All:

    thank u all guys for helping me

    And here're some details about my code u mentioned about:

    Methods about start app:
    Code:
            protected void startApp() throws MIDletStateChangeException
    	{
    		if (_bFirst)
    		{
    			_bFirst = false;
    			Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(_theGame);
    			new Thread(_theGame).start();
    		}
    		else
    		{
    			_theGame.start();
    			if (Display.getDisplay(this).getCurrent() != _theGame)
    			{
    				Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(_theGame);
    			}
    		}
    	}
    the body of run() and paint() methods are well wrapped by try..catch blocks
    and i'm pretty sure the memory is ok coz in the beginning of game, it just load the company logo and splash screen tiny mem used before it real starts. In fact, less than 500k in emulator. Even considering about the traditional memory leak and the corresponding solution onto it. the memory usage in that stage will less than 1M....definitely safe in heap size~

    Just a confusion, In your original post you are saying that the application does not start at all, and here you are saying that the logo and the splash screen was loaded..What do you mean by the loaded..?

    Just loading in the code, when you are creating the images?
    or
    it is actually drawing the same on the screen?
    Thanks with Regards,

    misunderstand..

    By that, I mean the logo and the splash screen should be loaded in the very beginning, i should be able 2 see something at least on this device.
    But the fact is I can see nothing, just like nothing happens~
    So I can make sure the program doesnt run so deap.
    And by considering the mem usage i can rule out the reason of heap size~

    that's it~

    Re: 6600 Firmware 3.42.1 critical issue(emergency)

    Do one thing just load the Logo and splash screen image in the code and then start drawing on the canvas first logo and then splash and that's all.

    Dont load anything else in the code and dont render anything else on the canvas. See what's gonna happen.?

    Put the proper try-catches in the code where you are loading the resources in the code..in the catch block you can take a form and draw the form if there is any exception with the title and the exception stack-trace...like

    public void debugException(String title,Exception exceptionrType)
    {

    //draw the form here with the above two information//
    // Call this method in every catch block and see//
    Form form = new Form("Exception in - "+title);
    form.append("Exception is :"+exceptionrType);
    display.setCurrent(form);
    }
    Thanks with Regards,

    ....No idea~ going mad~
    I set up a new pack with oddly fillRect function in method paint of class cGame, then return with out doing any other drawings

    Code:
    protected void paint(Graphics g)
    {
        if(!_isInit)
    	alternative_init();
        fillCanvasGreen(g);
        //other code blocks(commmented)
    }
    and leave the constructor of cGame like:
    Code:
    public cGame()
    {
        _own = this;
    }
    the midlet lauched and terminated by the system soon
    with a piece of system error message like:

    HTML Code:
    APP CLOSED
    MontyThread - 9!
    In fact, in my game I create no more threads except the game itself in
    Code:
    protected void startApp() throws MIDletStateChangeException
    {
    	if (_bFirst)
    	{
    		_bFirst = false;
    		Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(_theGame);
    		new Thread(_theGame).start();
    	}
    	else
    	{
    		_theGame.start();
    		if (Display.getDisplay(this).getCurrent() != _theGame)
    		{
    			Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(_theGame);
    		}
    	}
    }
    any idea?

    Please dont mind but I am not clear with the codes segments that you had mentioned..
    So can not comment anything about that code..

    However do one thing------

    1.Create a midlet..
    2.Create a canvas
    3.set the canvas as current displayable ..
    4.In canvas load the log and splash images...
    4.inside the paint().....just draw any of the image and test the demo...what is happening ?
    Dont do more than this.......
    Thanks with Regards,
