    capture://image on S40: How force size?

    Hi,

    when I do a capture://image to get a photo it has the size of 120x160px (~ 4KBytes)
    which is very small.
    How can I force other sizes like VGA 640x480 in S40 devices?
    I have a Nokia2710c-2/06.13

    I have tried videoControl.getSnapshot("encoding=jpeg&width=640&height=480")
    which produces a javax.microedition.media.MediaException: Invalid encoding: jpeg

    thank you
    Marcel

    Re: capture://image on S40: How force size?

    Hello Marcel,

    which produces a javax.microedition.media.MediaException: Invalid encoding: jpeg
    The property for determining supported formats for image capture is "video.snapshot.encodings".

    What does System.getProperty("video.snapshot.encodings"); return for your device?

    Also, supported sensor sizes of the cameras of the device can be checked by using
    System.getProperty("camera.resolutions");

    The returned String consists of sensor sizes per device, delimited by one whitespace (Unicode U+0020). The String for a sensor size is in a form device_name : width x height without whitespace characters. An example of a returned String: "devcam0:1024x768 devcam1:640x480".

    If no cameras are supported, the camera.resolutions returns null.

    Regards,

    Thumbs up Re: capture://image on S40: How force size? RESOLVED

    The Nokia2710c reports:
    video.snapshot.encodings: "encoding=image/jpg"
    camera.resolutions: "image:1600x1200"

    But the trick is to omit the 'e' in 'jpeg', than it works fine.
    Those strings worked for me:

    "encoding=jpg&width=160&height=120"
    "encoding=jpg&width=320&height=240" // not tried but should work
    "encoding=jpg&width=640&height=480"
    "encoding=jpg&width=600&height=800"

    Note: 1600x1200 doesn't work (OutOfMemory) as the MIDlet only gets 2MB of RAM

    thank you
    Marcel
