    Qt Mobility and GPS data

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this is supported by location APIs yet.

I'd like to use GPS data so, that I will get all the street addresses that are visible on the screen (maybe I could
use streaming to save them in the file).
If certain street address is visible on the screen, a mark is shown in the screen, meaning, that this location
is "mapped". User can then click the mark and certain event handler takes care of the event.

So is this possible to do with mobility APIs?

Re: Qt Mobility and GPS data

    Hi Miksa,

We're currently working on a Maps and Navigation API for Mobility, which will have support for geocoding (conversion between addresses and coordinates). I think most of the geocoding services available today would block you if you tried to do geocoding in bulk, so that may be a problem if you really need that.

If you're interested in arbitrary points / addresses it should be fairly easy to convert the screen position of map click to a coordinate and to convert a coordinate to an address. If you're interested in a particular address then you could convert the address to a coordinate and set up a map marker, and then you can connect whatever you like to the map marker's signals.

Is that the kind of thing you're after?

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Hi,

Thank you guys for the support!
And yes Dave, that is what I'm after.

    Thanks!

GPS positioning is now supported in Qt Mobility 1.1 Location API. you can get it from http://qt.nokia.com/products/qt-addons/mobility
Check out the documentations and also see some examples on how to use it.
    Best of Luck.
