    QT SDK 4.6.2

Can you develop for Symbian on Linux using the new QT SDK?

I have limited time to look at these tools (Family/TV/Drinking) and made a start last week. Looking at the Getting Started With Nokia PDF it clearly shows Symbian but when I start the software up it is missing.

    Thanks,
    Iain

Sorry, didn't notice mention of Linux in the original post. No, you cannot.

Are you running Nokia Qt SDK on Linux?

    Re: Nokia Qt SDK Beta

I think the answer is yes.

    So far I have

    Downloaded Nokia_Qt_SDK_Lin64_v1_0_beta_en_offline
    Install it
    Executed <install path>/NokiaQtSDK/QtCreator/bin/qtcreator

Selected the Animated Tiles as the project and the screen shot provided below clearly does not look like the one in the guide as shown below. I know it is small but you can quite clearly see the 3 targets and the last one is symbian.

I cannot see any mention of other software required in the guide aside from the already downloaded Nokia_Qt_SDK.

Sorry I am very new and I am probably missing the obvious. I had previously installed on windows Carbide/SDK/Active Pearl and the Toolchain but thought this new Linux platform would be easier and require less toolsets to work together.

Sorry, I've missed mention about Linux platform in your original post. Symbian development tools are not ported to Linux, thus, you cannot develop Symbian applications with Nokia Qt SDK on Linux platform.

Since it has not happened before, it's unlikely will happen in future.

As clarified in the other thread as well, Symbian is not a supported target platform on Linux right now.

Actually a new emulator is being developed which is based on qemu, and from what I have read it will be available for Linux as well. I'm not aware of when it will be released, but you can download symbian-qemu. However, AFAIK there is no public image to run that has the ability to debug applications. You can run a minimal symbian textshell and it has been reported that it is possible to also build your own, assuming you have access to all of the source code as well as a license to RVCT.

May be symbian platform might be supported with remote compilation.

    Hi bibble_235,
The Remote Complier works under Linux see How to install and use the Nokia Qt SDK Remote Compiler

A section on Ubuntu 10.4 uses the Linux offline version Nokia Qt SDK 1.0.
The Remote Compiler will compile from Symbian S60 5th Edition and S60 3rd Edition using the official version no longer beta

    Thanks
    Jim
