    Advertising via WRT?

    Hi all.

    I'm using this method to run my swf in the standalone player from a wrt widget:
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...thank_you_page

    When you exit my swf, it takes you back to the blank widget page (blank with the exception of a 'close me' button)

    So i thought, rather than have a blank page i can incorporate some advertising. So i registered with Admob, and I got it all working from my mobile web page. But i cant get it to work from my widget, because i cant obtain the request headers/ip address from the client side code?

    I've thought of just using an iframe and setting the source to my mobile web page, but this seems hacky.

    Is there a proper way to do this somehow? Thanks.

    <script type='text/JavaScript'>

    //helper function to create the form
    function getNewSubmitForm(){
    var submitForm = document.createElement("FORM");
    document.body.appendChild(submitForm);
    submitForm.method = "POST";
    submitForm.encoding = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";
    return submitForm;
    }

    //helper function to add elements to the form
    function createNewFormElement(inputForm, elementName, elementValue){
    var newElement = document.createElement("<input name='"+elementName+"' type='hidden'>");
    inputForm.appendChild(newElement);
    newElement.value = elementValue;
    return newElement;
    }

    //function that creates the form, adds some elements
    //and then submits it
    function createFormAndSubmit(){
    var submitForm = getNewSubmitForm();

    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"rt", "0")

    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"u", navigator.userAgent)

    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"i", "127.0.0.1")
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"h", "%5BHTTP_HOST%5D=localhost");
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"PUBLISHER_ID", "pubid");
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"ANALYTICS_ID", "analysisid");
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"COOKIE_DOMAIN", "");
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"AD_REQUEST", "true");
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"ANALYTICS_REQUEST", "true");
    createNewFormElement(submitForm,"TEST_MODE", "false");

    submitForm.action= " http://r.admob.com/ad_source.php";
    submitForm.submit();
    }

    </script>

    Re: Advertising via WRT?

    ....I guess what i'm really trying to ask is if there's any way to implement advertising in a WRT Widget? I know the Ovi App Wizard allows you to use advertising, but i can't see the .wgz it creates so I can tweak to source?

    Ideally what i'm after is a wrt widget, which automatically loads my swf in the standalone player. Then when you exit my swf, it returns the user to the widget which contains an advertisement/maybe an RSS feed. I'm just trying to make use of the seemingly pointless widget interface i get left with after i've exitted the swf i've loaded in the standalone player. :-(

    Re: Advertising via WRT?

    ...since nobody can help me build a javascript-based request for admob, i'm investigating the following solutions tomorrow:

    InnerActiv
    AdservXT
    goldspotmedia
    Adfonic
    Smaato

    If anybody has experience of these, please let me know. If anybody has mobile advertising solutions to add, please contribute. :-)

    Captain planet ... he's my hero, gonna bring pollution down to zero ...

    We're been using AdservXT since early this year. Initial impression is pretty good with support for Nokia WRT, no need to hack the codes
    I can't say much about the reporting system though, I think there's still a lot to improve, for one, they lack handset model info.
    Adfonic has better reporting, but I don't think the fill rate is that great. We made twice as much faster on AdservXT compared to Adfonic.

    Re: Advertising via WRT?

    Hi, all.

    Tried to get the WRT advertising working on AdServXT (WRT 3.2 version) but wasnt successful. They told me it's a bug, and they don't have time to fix it at the moment because they're developing other things. So basically, I've hit a brick wall. Has anybody got it working? Can anybody suggest another ad provider? I can't find many that support WRT widgets.....AdServXT made it simple in principle. It just didnt work. :-(

    I was also looking for flash advertisement in Flash Lite too, but AdMob for Flash lite didnt work on my N95 8GB either! (test mode did in Device Central, but live on my physical device didnt return any ads!)

    Ahh. I'm struggling. Any help is appreciated.
