How to sign midlet free for learning ?

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to learn symbian java and i need to sign my midlet file for testing on device.
How can i sign my midlet file for learning free of cost ?
As i signed sis file in sysmbian c++ for a particular mobile number free from symbian sign.

AFAIK, in Java - j2me you don't have any FREE signing available till now (which works on all devices for Nokia). You will need to invest in Thrawte / Verisign only.
For Motorola devices you can get one against IMEI no. of your test Motorola device from motocoder.
    Thanks,

you could try throug hthe Java Verified Programme ?
That does mean they will sing it for you after testing, you won't be able to sign stuff yourself...

Is Java Verified Programme FREE ?

AFAIK it will cost around $200+ for signing each build.

Re: How to sign midlet free for learning ?

Could be, I actually seemed to remember it was free, on the other hand I never tried it so I'm not sure about that...

Btw I found this on their website :

Question: Hello, I just see that you offer a way to sign applications for R&D purposes but I can't find the price.

How much does it cost for submitting code for R&D signing?

Answer: R&D signing is entirely optional and without cost, other than the cost of owning a Publisher ID.

So I guess you might want to have a look at such a Publisher ID and specifically R&D signing...

@Tiger - I didn't knew about the R&D signing of Java verified.... but yes the commercial one cost's around USD 200.
How about the Publisher ID -- do we get this FREE or its also Chargeable ?
    Thanks,
    Ekta

If you just want to learn, are your sure you need to sign?
For "normal" java midp programs, you don't need to sign. Just do not package your file as sis file, instead as jar file.
