[Moved] recording with CMdaAudioInputStream - 16khz on 5800 sound bad

    hi

i tryied to record raw pcm at 16khz with CMdaAudioInputStream.
when i do that on N81 everything is OK (record and sound).
when i do it on 5800 the sound is bad (i think it slower).

when i record on N81 and play on 5800 it sound OK.
when i record on 5800 and play on N81 the sound is bad.

so i conclude that the problem is with the recording on 5800.
i think i saw in some forum that the device might change the sampling rate and it might not support 16khz?
is that possible? how can i know what the device has chosen?

    thanks

yes ideally you should not hard-code the sampling rate, instead you should query from the device.

By use of this function you can get supported bit rates......void GetSupportedBitRatesL(RArray< TInt > &aSupportedBitRates)

Try to Set different sampling rates one by one..check which sampling rate give better sound quality.....

    I have tested that function.
    it returns KErrNotSupported.
any other way to quary? even non programicly? is it listed somewhere?

Did you test other sampling rate? or you can record in another format instead of pcm.....for better quality
