Qt SDK RC1 SSL config. step-by-step

    Hi,

sorry for this again, but I can't figure out how to enable the SSL support in the SDK. Could you please write it down step-by-step? Yes, I've read about the -openssl-linked option, but in windows enviroment, I don't know what should I do. I have just the QtSDK. Need I download the openSSL? Or how?

    Thanks for the answers!

In Qt SDK open SSL works, that I don't know .
Regarding your OPEN SSL download go here :http://www.openssl.org/

And How to create certificate using SSL you find here :http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph..._using_OpenSSL

    Best regards,

SSL is already there in the symbian no need to add,
Just check this discussion for more detail :http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...th-SSL-support.

Thank you for the answer, but I've already read that links. My SDK doesn't want to compile any code which contains SSL, but I need to use it, so please somebody tell me what can I do.

okay, I've figured out. Just the Simulator build won't work SSL, if I build the code for any Symbian SDK, it works perfectly.

I just find out that, even in Qt simulator, the SSL functionality is working.
Only thing we should do is include "c:\NokiaQtSDK\Simulator\Application\" in the system PATH.
All the information related to this SSL issue on the internet seems wrong so far.

My vague understanding is that you don't need to do anything on Symbian to enable SSL, not even include any includes. When you use "https" it happens automatically.

Re: Qt SDK RC1 SSL config. step-by-step

The original question is about having SSL connection on windows desktop. In this case, Nokia Qt SDK, it natually means Qt Simulator.
Qt Simulator, even on official version 1.0, is unable to establish SSL at the first time after installation.
What I found is that some message showing on the "Application Output" box telling some unresolved error to the Open SSL library functions.
Fortunately, There are necessary libraries in "c:\NokiaQtSDK\Simulator\Application\".
The reason, I guess, is may be because the debugger is running on the project directory and haven't found Open SSL libraries.

Developing and debugging with Qt Simulator would improve development speed.
And Symbian target debugging has to set breakpoints after the target application launched. That is annoying.
Anyway, I hope someone in Forum Nokia should take care of this issue in the next release or by creating some wiki.

But pretty much every platform that Qt runs on has SSL support natively, and the native support will be automatically used without the need to configure SSL.
