Unhappy Qt application does not appear in app manager

    Hi,

I have successfully created the deb file, install in to N900, but I can't find it in app manager to uninstall it. How to make my application visible at the app manager?

Open debian/control file in a text editor and change "Section: whatever" to "Section: user/other"

To have a good .deb package you have to have this structure of the files before create the .deb:

    -DEBIAN (folder)

To have a good .deb package you have to have this structure of the files before create the .deb:

    -DEBIAN (folder)
Here you will have the control file
    -usr (folder)
bin (folder) with the application file compiled in arm
lib (folder) with the code if you want. Is not mandatory
share (folder) with 2 folders inside
applications (folder) with other folder inside
hildon (folder) with app.desktop file. This is the one you need to appear in app manager
pixmaps (folder) with the application .png image for the icon

Hope with this you will be able to create your deb file
I'm using that an finally navigate to the root folder and create the deb file with:
    dpkg -deb -b <name of the mainfolder>

    Cheers

PS: Please note the indent text means another level of sub-folders, so in the root you have 2 folders, then inside usr you have 3 more, then inside share you have 2 (applications and pixmaps) etc..

This is wrong way of producing Debian packages leading to multiple problems. Moreover, it has nothing to do with a problem described in this post.
