    Smile Midlet Signing

    Hi,

I want to sign my midlet. Two obivious options are Verisign and Thawte. Have you heard about two other certificate providers Go Daddy and GlobalSign. Have anybody used them ? Does Nokia phones support them ?

    Regards,

3rd Option can be Java verified also.

Go Daddy and GlobalSign are present in new Nokia devices available in the market, but still its not recommended by experts

You can use Thawte or Verisign (or Java Verified, which is really a verification service and you pay for each verification, roughly speaking). No other certificate can be used for MIDlet signing.
Also note that there are phones out there which do not even support Thawte nor Verisign code signing certificates for MIDlet signing.

To clarify, these are not supported for code-signing. If you want to buy a certificate, it must be Thawte or Verisign. Check that target devices do support these certificates. Phones sold in the US market sometimes do not (even if the same model sold in Europe or Asia does).

There is no certificate universally supported on all devices. For this reason, I suggest you avoid signing unless you really, really need it.

Symbian Signing is not applicable to Java applications, even when they run on Symbian.

Jayakrishnan, this is easy to answer: Look at your phone(s)!

Recent Nokia Series 40 (since 5th Edition) support much more.
