    Problem using Qt

    Hi,

Tried on both animatedtiles and calculatorbuilder, have the same problem.

When I run (without debug) any of the test programs, I get the following Compiler Output. :

Running build steps for project animatedtiles...
    Configuration unchanged, skipping qmake step.
    Starting: "C:/NokiaQtSDK/mingw/bin/mingw32-make.exe" -w
    mingw32-make: Entering directory `C:/NokiaQtSDK/Examples/4.6/animation/animatedtiles-build'
    C:/NokiaQtSDK/mingw/bin/mingw32-make -f Makefile.Debug
    mingw32-make[1]: Entering directory `C:/NokiaQtSDK/Examples/4.6/animation/animatedtiles-build'
mingw32-make[1]: Nothing to be done for `first'.
    mingw32-make[1]: Leaving directory `C:/NokiaQtSDK/Examples/4.6/animation/animatedtiles-build'
    mingw32-make: Leaving directory `C:/NokiaQtSDK/Examples/4.6/animation/animatedtiles-build'
    The process "C:/NokiaQtSDK/mingw/bin/mingw32-make.exe" exited normally.

    the following Application Output :

    Starting C:\NokiaQtSDK\Examples\4.6\animation\animatedtiles-build\debug\animatedtiles.exe...
    C:\NokiaQtSDK\Examples\4.6\animation\animatedtiles-build\debug\animatedtiles.exe exited with code -1073741795

As can be seen, compilation looks okay, then the Qt Simulator comes on and it crashes.

When I do run under debug, I get a dialog titled "Signal received" with the following message :

The inferior stopped because it received a signfal from the Operating System.
    Signal name : SIGILL
    Signal meaning : Illegal instruction

    The Disassembler (_mm_set_pi32) says

Dump of assembler code for function _Z25qt_memfill32_sse_templateI19QSSE3DNOWIntrinsicsEvPjji:
    End of assembler dump.

The threads point at qmain line 254
and the arrow in main.cpp stops at line 254 which is

    return app.exec ();

    of animatedtiles main.cpp

I am on a Windows XP Home Edition SP3 running new NokiaQtSDK Qt Creator 1.3.85 (2.0.0-rc1) with the following :
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Multi-Targeting Pack
Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 (7.1)

(and yes, the system is kind of slow .....)

    Thanks in advance.

It's your application crashes, not Qt Simulator.

Clean the project and build it again.

    Re: Problem using Qt

The same error code was encountered on the first compilation of the example programs.
The Qt Simulator did not crash, the app crash about the time when the Qt Simulator came on.

    What should I do please?

    Thanks and Regards.

Are you sure that clean's removed all object files and executables?

    Print statements? Debugger?

    Re: Problem using Qt

    Hi,

Yes. I opened the project from Qt Creator.
    Then Build > Clean All
    Then Build > Rebuild All
    Then Run

    Same problem.
I am using an old AMD Athlon, would that be a problem?

    Thanks and Regards.

    Re: Problem using Qt

I was trying to do the debug like suggested but as I haven't even tried a HelloWorld application on this unit, I started off doing the TextFinder tutorial from scratch. Same problem. Same error code. I get a feeling that I've missed something embarassingly fundamental

One thing though when in Build Settings,

I select the Simulator Qt for MinGW 4.4 (Nokia Qt SDK) Debug
    I get a this error,

when I select the Simulator Qt for Visual Studio 2005 (Nokia Qt SDK) Debug
    I det a "uuid.lib missing" error message

    Thanks and Regards.

What you should do to make it sure is to check presence of object and executable files on your file system. qmake sometimes does weird stuff, it's far from being perfect.
