Question Building Rich UI in J2ME

    Hi,
I am new to J2me application development.
I need to create a rich UI for my application, something in lines of the UI of Nokia Goal 2010 application http://store.ovi.com/content/27554.

I am aware of the low level and high level graphics APIs and their capabilites. But i am not clear how to proceed with developing a rich UI for application.

    My basic concern is:
How do i go about creating a rich UI? Is there any other option other than desigining from scratch using the low level graphics API?

I have been all over Forum Nokia and the Nokia Wiki for days but couldn't find much help.

Any advice, pointers to arcticles or anything would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nithin S

So just download LWUIT from http://java.sun.com/javame/technology/lwuit/

see the source code of LWUIT Demo, and LWUIT Resource editor or LWUIT Theme designer to make Rich UI just like you do using MIDP highlevel components, with full flexibility of Canvas - like overriding paint() or keypress() to customize things to any extent.
    Thanks,
    Ekta

    Thanks ektasrv.
I downloaded LWUIT and iam already light years ahead with my application, compared to where i was when i posted last.
Have to say it saves a lot of UI desgin effort and i can now truly focus on other aspects of the app.

    Thanks,
    Nithin

Re: Building Rich UI in J2ME

They have been developing nice loking games for a long time, way before LWUIT...
The answer is simple : they have their own libraries, implemented themselves over the years... I'm pretty sure it's all based on Canvas...
Btw DON'T post the same question 3 times ! That's considered spam and it won't help you a bit...

Re: Building Rich UI in J2ME

In Games people generally use Low level graphics and work directly on Canvas, even using vector graphics if needed.
Library like LWUIT is for business applications that need rich UI not for games.
    Thanks,
    Ekta
