Please check the documentation's available at the publish.ovi.com, also you could check the older threads on similar questions. Basically there is no serial key distribution implemented with Ovi store, so you can not use it.

Ovi Store has no support for any kind of registration/activation keys/codes for apps. In other words, you cannot provide Nokia/Ovi a list of registration keys/codes, or a keygenerator, and you will not be able to get notified for each download/installation so that you could generate and deliver any keys/codes. To publish an app in Ovi Store, it cannot use any such copy prevention/authorization mechanisms (if it does, it won't be approved for publishing).

I don't mind if that made by commercial or any other company. The only goal is to force Ovi Store team to add such functionality. Earlier or later. Just because absence of such feature is just ridiculous.

You should really try understanding the issue from multiple perspectives, and what are advantages and disadvantages of different approaches, by trying to "force" your thinking through without having a good undesrtanding on what you are proposing wont make it too successfull. So after you have gathered your supporters do remember to make a really well thought proposal, so it have better chance on getting considered by anybody reading it.

Well. You are absolutely right. The issue should be thought out from multiple perspectives. And again, it depends on the goal of Ovi Store: if the quantity is the main target then indeed there is no need in any licensing routine. A lot of variations of "Fart attack", "Vibrators", "Mirrors" or any other crap could appear in Ovi Store without any problem. Although, if Ovi Store wants really useful apps which enrich user experience then some licensing should be adopted. Or at least usage of license managers should be allowed etc. No serious developer want to rely on Forward Locking as the only DRM in Ovi Store.

We couldn't defeat piracy. But the process of content stealing should be complicated as much as possible.

Hey, Yucca! I thought they threw herbicide on you! Nice to see you here again.

Onto more serious things, though: for you and me, the entering of a reg code is a non issue. But trust the old man who did Palm apps: 50% of users are challenged with correctly entering a reg code like:
    a Aa-bCbd-dEf#
or so, even if you give them a video of the process.

I see this as an issue of "price and payment". If you manage to fly on Airberlin's XL seats, you get up to 70cm of legroom inside of Europe, almost 1m2 desk space on some planes, and so on - but there is no curtain behind you for your ego.

Life is tradeoffs. And I think the tradeoff more customers vs cracked app is worth it.

After all: EVERY APP GETS CRACKED. Just a question of time.
