    Qt Quick

I want to try out Qt Quick. Does anyone know of any 'how to get started' (including installation) instructions and/or hello world example?

    Thanks,

    Max.

    Hi,

I want to try out Qt Quick. Does anyone know of any 'how to get started' (including installation) instructions and/or hello world example?
Quick is abbreviation of the Qt UI Creation Kit,which is introduced in 4.7 the lastest vision of Qt now.It makes design of UI becomming easier and faster than ever via combination of three technologies:Qt Creator 2.0, QML and Qt Declarative module.

Qt Creator 2.0 provides drag-and-drop way and smart text editor for designer to construct graphic UI and edit QML text.

QML is a kind of declarative language, which lets developers can build rich, fluid dynamic UI like animation via simply text.

Qt Declarative module is the underlying support of QML,which is a C++ libary actually. It likes a translater between the QML and the graphic items.

See the special page for the Qt Quick where you find working example :http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Category:Qt_Quick

Yeah, but how to actually get it installed and running (on Ubuntu)?

Do I really have to configure and build it myself? I only see packages for other systems.

    HI, max

Open the Qt 4.7 or higher version. and Make new QML file.
And use that qml ui file in your main program.
    See this article : http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...ation_from_QML

The above is what I am asking about. How can I get the '4.7' version?

Care to point out where the actual packages are? I don't see any for linux of any kind. All I see is :

    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Windows (minGW 4.4.0) (.exe, 323 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Windows (Visual Studio 2008) (.exe, 230 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Mac OS X (.dmg, 195 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Mac OS X Debug Libs (.dmg, 625 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Mac OS X Carbon (.dmg, 197 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Mac OS X Carbon Debug Libs (.dmg, 365 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Symbian (.exe, 265 MB)

    Source Packages

    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Source (.tar.gz, 191 MB)
    * Qt 4.7.0 Beta: Source (.zip, 223 MB)
The only ones that work there are the source ones and it takes days to compile on my h/w.

    Re: Qt Quick

    Hi, max
I have seen there , there is no download version for the Linux.
Because the Qt 4.7 beta version is a pre-release of the NOKIA Qt SDK.

See this page for more about Linux : http://qt.nokia.com/products/platform/qt-for-linux-x11

    Re: Qt Quick

At the moment the easiest way without compiling Qt is to use a QtCreator 2.1 snapshot:

    ftp://ftp.qt.nokia.com/qtcreator/snapshots/

This should include the Qt Quick documentation and examples. You can read the documentation online here: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/4.7-snapshot/declarativeui.html
