    Folder redirect - don't understand the PKG

    Hi Lucian,
    you have recently pointed me at this:
    Code:
    ; The package header
    &EN
    #{"Application Installer"}, (0x2002CCCF), 1, 0, 0, TYPE=SA
    %{"Vendor-EN"}
    :"Vendor"
    ;Supports S60 v3.1
    [0x102032BE], 0, 0, 0, {"SymbianProductID"}
    ;Supports S60 v3.2
    [0x102752AE], 0, 0, 0, {"SymbianProductID"}
    ;Supports S60 v5.0
    [0x1028315F], 0, 0, 0, {"SymbianProductID"}
    ; The actual application.sis file (required)
    "application.sis"-"!:\private\2002CCCE\import\application.sis"
    ; Embedded Smart Installer (required)
    @"smartinstaller.sis",(0x2002CCCD)
    The thing whiuch I don't understand: why is the package created with CCCF as UID3, but the file does to CCCE?

    Could you explain? Anyone?

    All the best
    Tam Hanna

    Re: Folder redirect - don't understand the PKG

    Hi Hanna,

    In my understanding,

    0x2002CCCF is the UID of the wrapper package file,

    0x2002CCCE is used with the wrapper package,

    you need to place you app sis into "!:\private\2002CCCE\import\"

    in order to make the wrapper works.

    Just like you have to place your app's reg.rsc file in "!:\private\10003a3f\import\apps\" (UID 0x10003a3f)

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    thank you so much for talking back.

    If I understand you correctly, the installer has the CCCE ID?

    Hi Tam, Edwin

    The Smart Installer has a boostrap (*CCCD) and a ADM component (*CCCE), the later being the true smart installer and being downloaded from the server, always the most up-to-date version.
    In the wrapper package (*CCCF) you are installing the file in ADM's data cage since it is the ADM (CCCE) that will have to process it.

    *CCCF is a transitory wrapper thing, there is no process with this UID and therefore no data cage. Not does one need one.
    The only other data cage possible to use would be bootstrap's *CCCD but then ADM would not be able to access the file from there without AllFiles capability or some pointless file handler sharing.
