    Advertising in Flash lite

    Hi, all.

I've asked a similar question in the WRT forums for good mobile advertising companies which work inside WRT widgets. So now i'm asking if anybody knows of advertising companies which allow you to embed advertisements into flash lite? I know AdMob do, but i can only get the test ads working - not the live ads. Also, would advertising in flash mean the swf would have to be loaded using a browser as opposed to the Flash Standalone player?

    Thanks all.

    Hi captain_planet,

i'm asking if anybody knows of advertising companies which allow you to embed advertisements into flash lite?
I know of some companies like
    TapJoy
    Smaato
But i dont think they support Flash Lite adds as AdMob do.
I know AdMob do, but i can only get the test ads working - not the live ads.
I just give AdMob a go and it is wotking fine on my side with test & live ads on Flash Lite 3 (N97 mini). Can u please elaborate the issue u r facing with live ads, so, may be we can tell u a solution or you can always contact AdMobs to solve such kind of issues.
would advertising in flash mean the swf would have to be loaded using a browser as opposed to the Flash Standalone player?
No! i dont think so. You can embed ads in your swf file even it is launched in Standalone Player or Run through Flash Llite Stub application. The only limitation is the Flash Lite 3.0 sandbox i.e you have to publish ur swf under "Network Access Only" settings or put ur swf into a trusted folder or put it into a private folder in case of Flash Lite Stub application.

    Hi Sajisoft,

Thanks very much for your response! I think there were two issues:

    1) I didnt publish with the 'Network Access Only' setting
    2) The fill rate of the AdMob ads was disgustingly poor. So i enabled House Ads as a test. And they populated most times.

    Thanks very much!

    Ciao,

I have been using mobile ads for several years with both mobile web site and Flash Lite integration.
What I suggest you to do is to use the mobile ads for a mobile site from your server and instead of making the request form a mobile site you make the request from the Flash Lite mobile app.
This way you have total control over the ads served and you can change providers if you need to.
Also the Flash Lite application becomes independent from the mobile ad provider.

    Hello CP,

Please check out www.youtube.com/alcovekenya - we have an application called M DRIVE, it's a flash lite file compiled as a WRT for the Symbian 5th edition family. The banner adverts and full page ads are loaded from a remote server as SWFs onto a target on the main swf.

Ahh ok - that's interesting. Thanks Seth/Biskero. I don't fully understand what Biskero's described, although i get the general idea of de-coupling the mobile app from the ad network. I'd still like to know how you implement this though? I'm guessing you make a mobie web page, and use that to request ads. And then load that mobile web page into your flash app somehow? Am i correct?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    How do you do this:

I have used the Ovi publish beta to publish my app. Just needed to get a UID from them and did not require to use any publisher id or Symbian Certification. I dont understand what changes I am needed to make for the ''Network Access Only' setting'. I am using Carbide C++ to make a flash stub.

    Re: Advertising in Flash lite

    Ciao,

sorry, maybe my explanation was not clear.
All the mobile ads providers have APIs for mobile site.
So what you can do is to use the same APIs but the call is from a Flash Lite applications.
    Check this scheme:

Flash Lite client <---> proxy server (ads APIs) <----> ads provider

The API you use is the same as a mobile site, but the request comes from a user of your application instead of a mobile web page.

If you have asked same question in WRT then you can also load ad content in browsers too.

Which signing capability would be required to publish ads in a flash lite app playing media content?

You can also use Inneractive ads in FlashLite content.

You don't need to have any special signing capability.
