    Thumbs up Porting using OpenC/C++

    Hello, I just studied to port a usb driver to symbian platform, anyone could tell if I can take use of the PIPS/Open C libraries which I know can be used in middleware or application porting.
    The system calls in PIPS/Open C libraries must swith to kernel context, but usb driver already runs in kernel, are there any impacts?
    Thanks for you kindly help.

    The Open C/C++ libraries have ALL -TCB capabilities, they can not be used in kernel code.
    Also note that USB is not a symmetrical protocol, if you are thinking about connecting an other USB device (mouse, external hard disk, etc.) to your mobile, that will not work with current devices, because of the hardware itself.

    Thank you wizard hu.
    Then neither can I use the P.I.P.S libraries in kernel code?
    I noticed Open C is based on P.I.P.S but not sure about that.
    Thank you.

    I doubt that it would make a difference. The 'port a driver' concept fails on its own, what would you expect from porting a driver designed for a different hardware and a different operating system, and presumably designed to be on the other end of an USB cable? Bringing unstable wrapper code as PIPS / Open C/C++ to the kernel almost seems to be a minor issue when compared to that.
