How to create a JAD file?

    Hi,

I am developing applications in J2ME using Eclipse ME and the Nokia N97 SDK. I have developed the application and now want to create a jad file so that I can load it on the phone and test it out for myself. I have created the jar file using the "Export" option in the Files tab. My question is this:

    1. How do I create a jad file? I used a program called JADMaker to create one. However, when I try to install the application on the phone using this jad, I get the "Compulsory Attributes Missing" error message. The jad file contents (after using a "cat" command on the above in a linux system) is as follows:

    Code:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    MIDlet-Jar-Size: 4732440
    MIDlet-1: TeleDB1,,TeleDB1
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: TeleDB1.jar
    Nokia-MIDlet-Category: Game
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.1
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0.0
    MIDlet-Vendor: Midlet Suite Vendor
    MIDlet-Name: TeleDB1 Midlet Suite
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0
I have looked through almost all the past discussions on this topic including the page where the compulsory attributes of a jad file are listed, but to no avail.

This is urgent as I would like to test my application out on a phone and get them "out-there" as soon as possible.

    Any help is most welcome.
    Thanks,
    Sriram

Re: How to create a JAD file?

In my quik look, I can see all the necessary JAD attributes are there, but remove "Manifest-Version: 1.0" from JAD file and give a try. Also ensure your Manifest file is proper and the values of JAD and Manifest match each other.

    Thanks for the reply.

How do I check if the manifest file is proper? I mean, I cannot see any manifest file that is created automatically with the jar file creation process. Is there any parameter that needs to be set explicitly to generate the manifest?

This URL on MIDlet Attributes would help you to understand the MUST / MAY attributes for JAD and Manifest.
