    Does Symbian^3 SDK v 0.8 support Qt?

    Hi,

I am doing the development in Symbian^3 platform.

    SDK version is Nokia_Symbian3_SDK_v0.8,

problem is I cant open any Qt built projects in the emulator.

I open a new Qt project with one QButton in the design mode.

It built successfully but got error when I run the app in emulator.

    I got the prompt of "Local-00ae7750 KERN-EXEC 3"

If I remove the button then everything is fine.

"Kern-exec 3" is prompt when I tried to add:

Group Box, Tool Box, Combo Box, etc.

Does this Symbian^3 SDK support Qt?

    Thanks.

Re: Does Symbian^3 SDK v 0.8 support Qt?

    Hi Edwin,
    Welcome to Forum Nokia Discussions
There are several problems and I assume you are trying to run with Qt 4.6.3.

In the last few days I have been trying to get this working as well as s60 5th Edition,
because version 4.6.2 would not detect or work with Symbian ^3 on GCCE compiler
and the emulator has problems. This can be made to work if you want to add patches etc.

The main problem with the emulator has been the fact that the Qt libraries do not seem
to have been installed into the emulator.

I don't know how on the emulator. Carbide.c++ is still awaiting official support for Symbian ^3

If you want Qt support and not interested in native Symbian for the Nokia N8 then I suggest you look into the Nokia Qt SDK see the wiki article Nokia Qt SDK

This has a really fast emulator compared with the old Symbian kits emulators.

You can quickly change build devices without using the command line and you have Qt Creator 2.0 with support or Qt Mobility 1.0.1 onwards in the emulator
    UPDATE 20-Jul-2010 19:00
The Symbian ^3 emulator took 47 seconds to start and 9 seconds to start the app in winscw

Now found a way to work *MUST* use Qt 4.6.3 onward see my latest post at :-

If you mean the Symbian ^3 emulator crasning with kernel error. This was due to having Real Tek High Def Speakers installed.
See Windows Driver problems in Moving to Vista. One answer is to set up a bluetooth headset driver as given in article.

Qt 4.6.3 works fine with Symbian ^3. On Nokia Qt SDK run the SDK update function to move to 1.0.1 and you will see support for Symbian ^3 in the Windows Start bar for Nokia Qt SDK
    Thanks,
    Jim
