    location request timed out

    hello,

    i'm typing this example http://www.adictosaltrabajo.com/tuto...pi_j2me_jsr179

    it works fine on netbeans and eclipse, but when i tried to execute on my cell phone (nokia n85) the app is executed and starts but after few seconds appears this message "location request timed out"

    any ideas???

    hello , make sure that your mobile GPRS plan is supporting HTTP protocol.
    even i faced the same problem when i tried to open HTTP connection from my midlet
    i changed my internet plan , since then its working fine

    thanks 4 your reply but finally i resolved the problem. it was that when i executed the program i didn't have GPS coverage.

    Hi ravindrashenoy and welcome to Nokia's Discusison Boards,

    It might be a better idea to start a new thread that describes the issue you are facing.

    If you are dealing with similar time outs, you might want to try the Assisted GPS location retrieval that gets a location object even when obstacles are present in the direct line of sight with the satellite.

    For more information on that, you can check the wiki location articles and this one in particular.

    There is also more information about retrieving the device's location in Java Developer's Library
