Question QT SDK not installing in Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi,

sorry for posting this thread once more, but from what I found in the forum the problems seem similar but not the same as I am having.

If I try to use the online version of the installer, the installation breaks down in the middle complaining about not being able to patch QT files.

Then I tried the offline version of the installer, which does not even start. The installer dies soon after starting without giving any error.

Does anyone know what is going on? Why such a bad quality on the installer?

    HI, pjmlp

Wndows 7 is not creating problem for you,

Remove or uninstall the old Qt SDK , then download the new one.
You need approximately 4 GB of free disk space for the installation.

All required steps are given here , You go through it, : http://www.forum.nokia.com/Develop/Qt/Getting_started/

    Hi,
I had similar problems using the beta and wrote some now archived notes at:-
Moderators testing note for Windows Vista and Windows 7

Basically it important to delete everything including the directory "C:\NokiaQtSDK" after reading the test notes. Look in the control panel -> Add/Remove Programs sections make sure there is not a rogue entry from the online install. Always use Administrator account to add/remove

    Thanks
    Jim

On 64 bit it's often necessary to install with Administrator, or to select "Run as Administrator" when starting the installer.

This is basically depends on the user setting.
If the user has crated two login account in windows, one as administrator and other as the guest , then full rights are given to the administrator for the setting in the user accounts.
But it is advisable to setup any software using administrator login.

Thanks for the replies, actually downloading the SDK again did it for me.

As a note to the Nokia people monitoring the forums, please make the installation process more stable. This is the type of issues that drive people to other platforms.

Re: QT SDK not installing in Windows 7 64 bit

It is recommended to make the admin different from your standard user login (which is different from "Guest"). If you set the box up in the recommended way you often need to do installs from an admin context.
