    Dynamic loading of images in flash

    Is it possible load and unload images (.png or .jpg) within flash dynamically into movie ?

    I have seen this within image gallery software made with flash.

    But my idea is to pack certain images with the flash file into .sis package with carbide c++ stub. So that the program would use less runtime memory.

    I have seen some posts carbide not allowing relative paths and so on..
    if it works, in which folder of carbide project I place the files ?

    When we are making image gallery software example at that time the images can not be with that otherwise it will always load that particular image during launching of that software.

    So that the program would use less runtime memory.
    Run time memory is not the problem for any application. Any application is made to access the memory for loading image, so it is going to be used.

    flash in a stub app packed in SIS

    believe me it is very hard because:
    -flash has no err handleing
    -resize with API bridge takes too long
    -flash on 5800 from FW50. doesn't load the entire image... just a resized 0.5MP image...

    Your picture gallery app seems nice.
    I tried the example provided earlier and it didn't work. Needed some kind of extra api to be installed on the phone.
    Why is it so hard to understand that you cannot make app for "normal people" that requires extra libraries to hunt from the web and install.
    Like the android needs all kind of coding to make simple things to work..

    Yes it is possible and quite easy. Read about loadMovie & loadClip APIs in Flash Documentation.

    I agree & It is possible.In Flash Lite contents , u may run out of allocated heap memory and it is a good idea to load/unload big external images to decrease the size of your main swf file.

    Actually, there are two launchers explained here :
    Stub and Launcher
    If you are just using a Flash Lite Stub, then u can use the relative path for loading image and you can place the images in sis or data or any folder and to embed these images in your swf file and installing them in the location same as your main swf , just edit the pkg file and write something like this (if you place the images in data folder) :
    Code:
    "..\data\image1.png" - "!:\private\EDB284A3\image1.png"
    "..\data\image2.png" - "!:\private\EDB284A3\image2.png"
    where EDB284A3 is the UID of your stub. Hope it helps..
