    mmp to build resource only

    Hi there,

I would like to create a project which will build only the resource of my application; the reason is if some texts have been changed I would like to give a .sisx file containing only the resource and not the entire project.

Is there any possibility to do that ? what must I use in the TARGET, TARGETTYPE for example ?

thanks in advance dor any suggestion !
    Domi.

Re: mmp to build resource only

You could simply try if the toolchain accepts a .mmp without TARGET/TYPE.
If you are the "target audience", rebuilding the entire project, but packaging the resource files only would also work. Of course if you want to provide some 3rd party with the resource sources (for doing localisation things for example), that is an other story.
And of course you can create a nice .bat (or .cmd) file for doing the resource compilation on its own. A verbose command-line build shows the commands which are executed. For getting a more focused output, you can use "abld -v resource gcce urel"

Re: mmp to build resource only

    Hi,

    thanks for your fast answer.
I had tried to make a mmp file prior to post this thread without a TARGET/TARGETTYPE but it won't build ! (as expected), I do that for localization and I don't use the 'normal symbian process'; I mean I load localization files (resources) at runtime if they exist (that's the reason) for example to add a new language.
Meanwhile, the only tips I have found is to create a fake project (fake.cpp which contains only E32Main entry point) and of course, the resource files for my other project.
I just want to use Carbide to build them, it's easier than a command line prompt.

I stay open to other ideas, of course :-)
    sincerly,
    Domi.
