    Re: MeeGo and Maemo

MeeGo is a new combined version of maemo and Mobile with most being probably based on maemo. Neither maemo or Mobilin will have any new version as henceforth their direction is MeeGo.

If you write your app using Qt APIs, then you can reuse the source code on Symbian and maemo/MeeGo.

Note that Qt is not built-in on any S60 3rd Edition or S60 5th Edition devices, but must be installed first, before Qt apps can run.

    Re: MeeGo and Maemo

Maemo has not been integrated to the offerings of Forum Nokia yet. Check http://maemo.org
You could have tried searching a bit, Google delivers this link as first hit for maemo
And Maemo is not really related to "General Symbian C++" - however it supports Qt, which is actually discussed on this site.

    For both questions: yes.
Do not forget about visiting http://qt.nokia.com, http://maemo.org, and Develop/Qt above.

    Re: MeeGo and Maemo

If I want to use QT with Meamo than should I download the QT from here http://qt.nokia.com/downloads , is this is only file I need to download for QTQt libraries 4.6.3 for Symbian (210 MB). I am not able to find Meamo SDK Virtual Image. where do I get that? Can I install it on Windows XP? How do I make my first app with QT Meamo?

See the section "Installing Maemo 5 SDK on non-Linux operating systems" on the page I linked to.

You don't need to know Python to develop for maemo, unless you want to develop Python apps for maemo.

I think Nokia Qt SDK is also one option if you want to develop application for maemo using Qt.

Sure. Originally it was not an entirely Qt topic, that is why it was moved to the General Discussions first.

    Re: MeeGo and Maemo

So currently the only option for Maemo development on Windows XP is Nokia Qt SDK.
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n...ia_Qt_SDK.html
Maemo SDK is for Linux only, but can be installed into virtual machine like VMWare or Virtual Box running on Windows XP. This way requires some experience in Linux.
