Exclamation N8 Flash Content error 6

    Hello guys,

I've created a new app and it works fine on all S60 5th edition devices ( tested on 5800, 5530 and N97 mini ) but in my new N8 it throws Flash Content Error: 6.

    More information about it:
The application load some images based on Service API ( GetList ), this explain the kind of error.
Only in the N8 I'm asked about permit connection to the resource...
I'm using laucher method to packaged into a .sis file.

    Any ideas?

Re: N8 Flash Content error 6

    Hi Atila,
Well! i am not as lucky as u in having a N8. But how about a guess :
    - Error 6 says "Bad image data".
    - If we read a book, it says this error occurs due to incompatible format :
    Bad Image Data
    - So, u can simply try to encode the images on ur N8 to other format using a PC Image editing software ( or may be N8 has a image converter ) and then put these encoded images back to the images folder and try to load them using GetList api or by absolute paths.
    - May be the N8 prototype u have doesnt have the final stable version of Flash Lite 4 .Thats why this error pops up.

    Best Regards,
    SajiSoft

    Ciao,

I have seen some errors and trying to debug them as other using Kero Mobile do not have issues.
What connection are you using? WiFi or 3G?

Also the N8 is not of final commercial firmware so things might change

Re: N8 Flash Content error 6

    Hello guys,

Saji, my images are JPGs, same extension used by N8. Even so, I comment the call to GetList and I tried to load directly/absolute path the example images that came with device ( using loadClip ), and didn't work too.

So, I think it's not a problem with Service API or image encoding.

    Ciao Alessandro,
    I'm loading local images.

I'm still trying to understand the difference between native flash lite 4 apps and Mobile web content in flash.

I know that FL4 has a lot of unsupported classes or partially supported.
Is that the reason to this tutorial does not work on the N8 device?

If I package my swf into a widget, can I get the fully behavior of FP 10.1, like Android devices with AIR?

If N8 has GPU, why FL4 doesn't have support to Pixel Bender filters?

    BR,

Re: N8 Flash Content error 6

    Ciao,

the browser plugin and standalone version are different as some features can be enabled or disabled based on HW/SW requirements.
Also I do not thing it would be a good idea to have a FL player customized for each device spec, it would be a mess for us and for Nokia.
Remember that Flash Lite is for embedded devices and the SDK available to OEM allows them to enable/disable or add/remove features.
You can read this blog for more infos http://www.embeddedflash.com/
Anand works for a company that does exactly that.

Re: N8 Flash Content error 6

    Hi Atila,

We have the same problems with "Bad Image data" error on showing JPG images. The images were optimized and checked with the Adobe PhotoShop program. Changing to PNG helped, so I assume that there are still some problems with the Flash Lite on Nokia devices.

    Regards,
    Simon
