    IMEI model identification

    hi,

wondering whether there's a way of getting the model number out of the IMEI. Actually only interested in identifying 7650 and 3650 phones.

    thanks

well the first 6 numbers indicate the TAC number (modell) which you can lookup here:
    http://www.nobbi.com/tacquerydb.htm

though it seems not accessible at the moment.

    cheers,

As i mentionend above, you need to query that database and not the TAC numbers. there's afaik no generic way of "guessing" the number.

note that TACs can be added at a later stage. so keep checking to be uptodate.

    cheers,

You can read firmware version from Z:\System\Versions\sw.txt (read 3rd line for phone code).

And then check your phone from the list of Nokia firmware codes:
    http://homepage.mac.com/alvinmok/nokia/firmware.html

I guess this is more accessible than extracting phone model from IMEI.

    Re: IMEI model identification

I know that topic is old but just as I could find it maybe somebody else will also find it.

TAC is now 8 digits long.

You can check your phone make and model on website http://imei-number.com/imei-lookup/
