    bldmake returned with exit value = 2

    Hi,

    I am a newbie at this. And this might be a very stupid question. I must be getting something basic wrong. Please please help me.

    I have installed :
    Carbide C++ Version 2.3.0(Build v200911050858_60 )
    Perl v5.6.1

    I am using S60 3rd Edtion FP2 SDK

    And I am trying to build a simple hello world and I am getting this error :
    bldmake returned with exit value = 2 Helloworld2 Unknown Carbide.c++ Build Problem

    Console output :
    ***Building project "Helloworld2" for configuration "Emulator Debug (WINSCW) [S60]"

    Re: bldmake returned with exit value = 2

    That /c/S60 in the error message may indicate that cygwin comes into the picture somehow. You can find customizable environment variables for Carbide.c++ (Project/Properties, Carbide.c++/Build Configurations/Environment, try to remove cygwin from path there.

    Actually the error message seems to be the same. However the log suggests that cygwin is still in the path.

    Re: bldmake returned with exit value = 2

    But I have removed cygwin from PATH > Environment Variables.

    I also have Borland C ++ loaded and that is still there in the path. Could that be the reason? But I don't think so...the error is getting thrown by PERL.EXE right?

    Also I have followed the S60 SDK Installation Guide. From command prompt when I run "bldmake bldfiles" and "abld build" > it compiles. It runs perfectly in the emulator running 'epoc'. After which I have compiled both the .sis and .sisx files from .pkg file in the sis folder which is installing and running the program on my S60 phone.

    But I am not getting the IDE to do it for me. And what I am afraid of is when I develop something which is bigger and complex will cause errors because of this issue.

    I am providing you with the path set environment variables. >
    c:\Perl\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Carbide.c++ v2.3\x86Build\Symbian_Tools\Command_Line_Tools;C:\Program Files (x86)\PC Connectivity Solution\;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files (x86)\Lua\5.1;C:\Program Files (x86)\Lua\5.1\clibs;C:\Program Files\TortoiseSVN\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\cmd;C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitvise Tunnelier;C:\BORLAND\BCC55\BIN;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Symbian\tools;C:\Program Files (x86)\CSL Arm Toolchain\bin;C:\S60\devices\S60_3rd_FP2_SDK_v1.1\epoc32\gcc\bin

    Also from the command prompt when I type 'perl -v' i get :
    This is perl, v5.6.1 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread.

    Re: bldmake returned with exit value = 2

    Trying from the command line was a good idea, actually it shows that your configuration is just fine. Perl version is also fine.
    Yes, it is perl.exe which produces the error message, but it is not perl's fault: someone instructs it to execute /c/S60/devices/S60_3rd_FP2_SDK_v1.1/epoc32/tools/ABLD.PL, which is just strange, and this is the part which does not work.
    Although 64-bit Windows may require some extra configuration, in that case it would not work from the command line either.
    You can try minimizing the path variable inside Carbide.c++, so also remove Borland stuff, Lua, perhaps Git.
