Launch Ovi Store from within a QT app (N8)

A few posts in Forum Nokia suggest opening an Ovi Store URL launches the Ovi Store application.

However, on the N8, doing this from QT, like so:
    Code:
    QDesktopServices::openUrl(QUrl("http://store.ovi.com/content/20048"));
... does nothing more than launch the Ovi store web page with a dekstop-sized viewport.
(Note that the Ovi Store is installed on the N8 I've been testing with)

Anyone know how to launch the Ovi Store application itself, and have it point to a particular application?

If you "send an app to a friend" from the OVI web page, then looking at the text message you receive on the phone (which link opens the OVI app, not the web page), you can see it has the same URL as the app on the webpage version, but with ".mobi" instead of ".com".
    So:

Now that is unrelated to QT, but I think that's what you wanted.

Note that this is my observation (I've only tested once just to check that it worked and it did), but I've never read about it, so please double check that it works for you.

Using .mobi has the desired effect..... sort of. Now the browser is launched but is then superceded by the Ovi Store - looks kind of clunky. Nonetheless, thanks for your help!

I know what you mean, however I've had a look at apps that offer to purchase the full version from within the trial version (I am myself interested in that):
Some of them just open the OVI web page, so I guess that's alright as well, but for those that open the OVI application (mobile) it does open the web version first and starts the OVI application after a few seconds.
So I guess that's the way it is.

Did you think about looking at the newly-amnnounced in app purchasing?

I did think about it, yes..... Then realised nothing is published about the API etc, and that its only going to be 'beta' in December..... Not ready for a production app right now, I think.

    Hi,m
but AFAIK; you can already use it if Nokia lets you.

As long as you don't sell hardware, that is...

Re: Launch Ovi Store from within a QT app (N8)

We have also implemented opening web-browser from our "lite"-version to Ovi Store ".mobi" address with our paid content url. Web browser then automatically opens Ovi Store Client and redirects to our paid application page. This works very well on S60 5th edition devices, but not on Symbian^3 devices. Symbian^3 devices just go to Ovi Store main page. Has anyone succeeded in redirecting customers to specific product in Ovi Store on Symbian^3 devices?
