How can I list applications present on a SIM card?

I'm trying to connect to a SIM card using SATSA APDU.
When I call a Connector.open(CardSlot0) method, an exception is thrown:

    javax.microedition.io.ConnectionNotFoundException: Card application selection failed

This suggests that either my AID is incorrect - but I have been assured that it is correct - or the application whose ID it is is not installed on this SIM card. How can I verify if the second case is true?
How can I list all the applications present on a SIM card?

Which phone model? Does it support using SATSA APDU from a MIDlet in the first place (does the phone model have/support the required JSRs)? Does using them on that phone modem require special permission (like operator or manufacturer signed MIDlets)?

    Samsung GT-S5230
It supports SATSA APDU - I've checked that by calling Class.forName("javax.microedition.io.Connector") and Class.forName("javax.microedition.apdu.APDUConnection") - both these methods return the correct classes.
My midlet is third-party signed (apdu doesn't require operator/manufacturer signing) - besides, it would have been a SecurityException if that was the case.
How can I list all the applications (applets) present on a SIM card?

Samsung developer support you can find here (this is a Nokia forum, in case you haven't noticed): http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/

True, but this is a SIM card issue, not a phone issue - unless all these other posts unrelated to any specific phone model or manufacturer are also invalid?

Nokia doesn't make Samsung phones or SIM cards. If it is a SIM card issue, contact the operator who issued the card, or the SIM card manufacturer (such as Gemalto or whomever made the SIM card for the operator whose SIM card you have trouble with).
