Can I call Symbian C++ code from J2me code?

    Hi,
I have developed one application using j2me code.
But now there is one need to have some functionality which is written in Symbian C++. (I know C++ but about Symbian C++, I don't have any knowledge.)

So now I want to call that Symbian C++ function from my J2me code.
    Is it possible?

Please help. Am in correct or way? Or I'm just thinking wrong?

    Thanks in advance,
    Rupaa.

    Hi,

It is not possible in general, there must be support from Java side for the specific Symbian API. So that is problem with Java it does not support many native API

    Hi

Or you can use API Bridge feature and develop a C++ Plugin. From J2ME Code you can use the plugin for the required C++ service.

    More details available here.

    Thanks Halderp,

I have read API Bridge, but still I didnt get clear Idea on this. As per my reading, with the API Bridge I can call only the services that are defined already like ("service.logging").
But my need is different :- Someone other had developed some C++ application. And I want to call that.
Or some way of communication between the two apllication. Is it possible with APIBridge?

    -Thanks

Local (localhost, 127.0.0.1) TCP/IP socket calls allows a running Symbian C++ app exchange information with a running J2ME application (MIDlet).

    Hi Rupaa

As mentioned in the API Bridge article you can create your own "Plugins" and make a request to the plugin. Please go through the attached example. It might give you better idea.
Also as "petrib" suggested to can do a TCP/IP Socket connection between your J2ME App and Symbian APP. The API Bridge is exaclty doing the same. It provides the framework by which
you can use J2ME and Symbian code together without need for worrying about internal Socket Communication. Rather you can concentrate on your own problem domain.
