Angry VMWare "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I've been wrestling for some time now trying to get a development environment working.

    Mac OSX 10.6.5
    VMWare Fusion 3.1.1

    Tried installing Nokia_Qt_SDK_Win_online_v1_0_2_en.exe, Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe and then qt-sdk-win-opensource-2010.05.exe.

I can connect an N8 with USB as a Mass Storage device but not in Nokia Ovi Suite mode. I get a "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" for the Nokia N8-00 USB Phone Parent under Wireless Communication Devices in the Windows Devices applet. After additionally installing the Mac BootCamp drivers I was able to connect via Bluetooth but it seems a USB connection is needed for development/debug.

Anyone have this same problem? If yes did you figure out a fix?

BTW... I have the same problem on a Win XP virtual machine as well as a fresh Windows 7 install each of which is setup under a different Mac and VMWare installation.

On Windows 7, I additionally see a Location entry in the device properties that says "Port_#0001.Hub_#0002".

Anyone using VMWare Fusion on a Mac to run QT dev in a VM in Win?

I have VMWare Fusion using WIn XP with service pack 3.
All works ok with various nokia phones , eg: 5800, N97 etc. ,using both Carbide and Creator and both Pc suite and Ovi suite

    BUT

I have the same device cannot start (code 10) problem when using the new N8 on the VM based XP.
Nokia Cable Driver installation has a problem but have not found the issue yet. (updated Nokia cable driver, reinstalled etc..)
The N8 seems to work ok on a WinXp (not VM) machine I have.,
Did you find a solution yet. ?

No sorry I haven't figured this out yet. I have installed old/new versions of Nokia tools, played with drivers and what not to no avail.

I have the latest VMWare Fusion v3.1.1 and I wonder if older versions work better for this?

Thanks for posting on this thread. I hope others do too so that we can figure this out!

Try Parallels 6, the N8 connects as expected.

I've tried VMWare and gave up.

Still seeing the same problem with the latest VMWare v3.1.2 with Windows 7 and Nokia N8.
I guess I'll have to try Parallels. Very frustrating.
