Nokia D211 and Local Area Connection problem

Hi, I am trying to get the Nokia D211 card set up on a customer's PC on their LAN.

The PC is a Compaq ENS/P933/20e/6/128c with a Pentium 3 running Windows XP professional.

The PC is connected to their local LAN via a NIC card and has an Elan P111 PCMCIA card for the Nokia D211 card. The D211 is being used solely to receive SMS's which are forwarded on to another system via the LAN connection.

The problem is that when the GSM mode is selected via the Nokia software the LAN connection via the NIC card freezes. The PC then no longer responds to ping from the LAN and the PC times-out all network connections to the LAN.

Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour before and have a clue as to what is going on?

    Thanks in anticipation, Simon

RE: Nokia D211 and Local Area Connection problem

    Hello,

On Nokia D211 only one radio can be operational at a time. When GSM radio is switched on the WLAN radio is shut down. Does this explain the problem you are experiencing?

No not realy the Network connection that freezes is not a network connection formed via the Nokia D211. It is the Lan Connection via the Intel PRO/100 VM NIC to their cabled intranet.

The Nokia D211 card is only set to GSM mode to recieve SMS's it is previously in the OFF state.

This however does not occur on my development machines where the D211 performs well.

    TIA Simon

    Hello,

Have you checked that your system has enough free resources for the task? Check e.g. IRQ interrupts or possible conflicts with drivers.
