Is there a way to self-sign MIDlet on Nokia N73?

Is there a way to self-sign MIDlet on Nokia N73? I would like to test my midlet on this phone and I don't want to pay for certificate each time?

Is there a way to install unsigned midlet on N73?

Welcome to the Forum Nokia DiBo,

    1. Nope

    2. Yeah you can install the unsigned MIDlet on the any of the device and it is not limited to the perticular device. However if your app is using the the API like HTTP, FIle connection etc then your MIDlet will ask for the permission and you have to give the same in order to use the API.
    Thanks with Regards,

Re: Is there a way to self-sign MIDlet on Nokia N73?

    Thank for the info.

My MIDlet uses RecordControl for audio capture, so it'll be asking for permisions. But it's not a problem. I need a device that supports encoding=pcm, raw audio samples for DSP. I've googled that N73 supports that encoding, my samsung doesn't, unfortunately (just audio/amr). I need buy some of the N series mobile, so I tried install my MIDlet on my friend's N82, but installation failed. I thought that only signed apps can be installed on Nokia devices.

    Thanks,

Java apps do not need to be signed. Symbian apps must be.
