    memory info in application

    Hi
If the application has some minimum memory requirement and if the phone doesn't have the minimum memory when the we tries to install the application, installation shouldn't be allowed. We needs to be notified the phone doesn't have minimum memory required for the application.

Is it possible to catch that exception or error in the program of J2ME?

    Please help me.

    Re: memory info in application

    Hi
When i run the application in the NOKIA 2730 Classic it doesn't anything in it but when i tried the same application in the higher end model of NOKIA device it require installation of the Java application
    My questions are
1)Why the lower end device are not asking anything while initializing?
2)Is it possible to check the memory card or phone memory size while the application is initializing?
for the second question my scenario is
if the phone memory or memory card has the less memory then the application size while initializing it will shows a message .
ie "Your phone or memory card doesn't have enough memory to launch the application"

    Please help me.

    Re: memory info in application

it obviously is NOT possible to check for the amount of memory from a J2ME app when the app hasnt been installed...
Afaik the OS will tell you if you don't have enough free memory to actually install your app...
If you manage to install you're app then you could simply check the amount of free RAM (or system) memory... There are code examples for that on the Wiki...
Also take into account that a lower end nokia device (S40) runs on a completely different OS than a high end Nokia (S60 with Symbian as an OS)...
Note: please don't send private questions to me, as I don't have time to provide private support. All such questions should be posted on public forums, where I and others can see and answer them.
