    do tiled layers save memory

In j2me if i am using an image and tiled it for 100 times then what amount of memory will be occupied ?
if will be occupied equal to one image or it will be equal to 100 times the size of that image.

Re: do tiled layers save memory

If you create 100 Image objects all with that image it might be 100 times as big... If you only create 1 Image object and use 100 references to it (in case you are using the same image multiple times like enemies in a game) then it will use the memory needed for the Image bitmap and the 100 references to it (like some bytes per reference)...
That's what I think, I'm not completely sure though and I hope someone like Graham will stop by and acknowledge the answer or explain how it works for real
