    Unhappy self-signed app related question.

I'm going to add an application to startup-list.
Self-signed application can be launched at device boot up?

No it can not be added to teh start-up management list, thus the autostart will not work.

Actually self signed can not be launch at device boot up...for it's required Extended Capabilities and Declarative statements and API declarations.....

Yes, however it does not necessarily mean that you have to pay a few hundred EUR-s to TrustCenter and go with the Symbian Signed way. Check Ovi's developer offerings first, registration is around 1 EUR there.

If your application works self signed, and your customers dont mind the warning of 'untrusted ' tag to your application during your installation, then even self-signed is sufficient.

Note that self signed cannot be distributed on ovi

Help me - Free app distribution

    Hi, everybody.

I have developed an application symbian s60 5th.

It seems app distribution is too complex.

How can I distribute this app?

I want to know brief and abstracted procedure of distributing free app.

My app have user capability and should be added startup-list.

    Thanks.

Setup project to for example SourceForge and distribute your .sisx from there, maybe put even source code there. Only problem is now advertising, eg. how you tell people to download your app.

Re: Help me - Free app distribution

the start-up-list requires symbian signing, which complicates the issue a bit. Basically if you could go without it, you could then self-sign the sis and use the abowe descriped method. If you want to keep the autostarting, and use the above method, then you either should distribute it unsigned with development-time-UID, or actually get it signed.

Also you could have a look into the Ovi publicing, and the free signings service available with them

Merged your threads. As you can see, the answers do not change much just because you asking the same question again.
