    Post javax.microedition.io.file.FileSystemRegistry Usage

    Hello Everyone,

    I am working on a project in which user takes pics using Camera & they are automatically sent to Server, which I have done with your help.
    Whereas Other Side is notified to download this photo.

    In this project I want to display help using html files i have created. These files will be residing in some folder in application. I want them to be opened by device itself using it's default applications set.
    How to do it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Welcome to the Forum Nokia Technical Discussion Boards,

    You can call the platformRequest(String URL) to invoke the HTML page you are putting inside your app.
    The platformRequest() method takes one input argument, a String URL that it passes to the platform's application management software (AMS). The AMS examines the scheme of the URL, and if appropriate logic is available loads or invokes the appropriate service. An empty non-null URL string cancels any pending platform requests. The platformRequest() method returns true if the MIDlet suite must exit before the external platform service can be invoked, and it throws a ConnectionNotFoundException if the platform cannot handle the URL argument.

    Where URL is the path of the HTML page.
    Thanks with Regards,

    if the page is embedded in your application, you may try to copy it on the phone file system and open it using platform request with the URI to the file you created. It may or may not work depending on the device.
    you may also simply have you help pages on your server and use platform request with the URL of the distant page
    finally, you may use J2MEHTML or LWUIT HTML component to display the help in the application itself.

    Thanks for the help you all..

    I searched for platformrequest() details in forum.nokia. library.
    I got hint as : platformRequest("file://waytofile/file.ext");

    But now problem is, is there any way to get path of the files whereever they are placed after installation?

    AND this way of opening files is not supported by series 40, any alternative way for both s40 as well as s60.

    it is placed nowhere after the installation except in the jar where you embedded it, until you place it yourself somewhere else yourself.

    it won't be of any use to access the jar.
    the ressources you embed in your application at accessible at "/" via class.getRessourceAsStream.
    for instance, you file help.html is to be accessed via getClass().getRessourceAsStream("/help.html");
    read it, then write it on the file system.

    I guess you talking about to access the path of the installed jar/app on the device?
    Thanks with Regards,
