Show up phone's Contacts application within Qt application

    Hello All,

There are innumerable threads on APIs to access phone's Contacts, sorry if I'm posting something similar (I searched thoroughly, but might have skipped it).

Is there a way to open the phone's Contacts application within our application? (opening the actual Contacts UI, say in edit mode). Currently I have created a lib out of the example given here- http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...Qt_for_Symbian to add contacts and used it in our application.
But I want symbians Contacts application to show up when user clicks on Edit option given in our application. Is this possible?

I use Nokia Qt SDK 1.0.2. Application is for S60 3rd ed FP1/FP2, 5th ed and Symbian^3 devices.

Is this not possible? (Or is it too silly a question that people didn't even bother reading it fully? )

Hi - I thought I'd post this here too, just in case other people were wondering:

Yes, there is API to access the native editor and contact picker UIs offered in the Symbian API. See http://library.forum.nokia.com/topic...IndexPage.html for more information about this.

Currently, there is no support for this in the Qt Mobility Contacts API directly. There is a task to do this: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTMOBILITY-223 - please vote on that task if you want to see it roadmapped.

Note that the local contact ids used in the Qt Contacts API map directly to native Symbian contact ids (I believe - I might be wrong, please check the source code of the symbian QContactManagerEngine plugin), so you should be able to do the mapping manually, if you want to. You can mix Symbian C++ and Qt C++ in the same application, obviously.

    Cheers,
    Chris.
