Simple solution to save local variables/data

    Hi,
I need a simple solution (novice) to save a form locally. Think of it as a contact list.
I add <name> then <details>. Save. Then I want to load them and have them stored on the phone.

    Looking forward for solutions.
p.s. I understand local shared is having a 4kb limit, so that might not be a solution.
Also, final file, will be packaged as widget. If that's an impediment, then will be as .sis

    Many thanks for your help!

Re: Simple solution to save local variables/data

    Hi motionitem,
Shared Objects are only way to save small (4KB) data locally by using pure Flash Lite APIs. Widgets also dont have any API to write to a file.AFAIK, you left with following options:
1- Use Kuneri Lite File Plugin to write to a text file
2- Write down your own local http server to extend Flash Lite using Symbian C++ or Python. (Search this DiBo for details)
3- Write down a plugin for API Bridge (Search this DiBo for details).
    Hope it helps..

    Best Regards,

    Thank you for your reply.
Do you know, with Kunerilite, will I'll be able to publish commercial to OVI, and package the file as a .sis?

    Thanks.

    Hi motionitem,
Well! Their commercial license page states :
KuneriLite is discontinued and not supported anymore. You can still download and experiement with KuneriLite, however we do not recommend you to consider for production or commercial use.
So, better to ask them about it via email or at their forum :

    Best Regards,

If you are packaging in a WRT widget, why not use the setPreferenceForKey method on WRT side to store the settings and use Flash's externalInterface to communicate between Flash and WRT.

Or, better yet, take a look at QML ;o)
