    Nokia Wtih Symbian or MeeGo

    Hi,
I read an article and it says that nokia will use meego for mid-high phone and continue with symbian in low cost phone, but nokia will give a lot less resources to symbian.
Is it like Nokia is going to leave Symbian? Is Symbian^3 the last release for symbian os?

The internet is full of articles, you need not trust all you read. Nokia has made public announcements about its software strategy ( you can find the documents on nokia.com ) and has announced in the latest financial results call that an update on company's strategy will be made on February 11, 2011.

Your stories are so old ... If you really want to know what Nokia does, I would suggest staying more up-to-date with it all and follow Nokia's announcements and press releases.

    Software strategy [December 2009]: http://www.nokia.com/NOKIA_COM_1/Tec...hite_paper.pdf
    Press release [October, 2010]: http://www.nokia.com/press/press-rel...newsid=1453894

Or if you want to follow the latest rumours and gossip, join Twitter. At least you'll get fresh things, as they happen

Yeah I went through this and it says Nokia will focus on Qt in future so that the developers can create apps for both symbian and MeeGo?
    is that correct?

    Hi there

Me, as developer, worrying about the rumors too
I likes Nokia's strategy regarding development: crossplatform c++ based free framework
If Nokia will move to Java only Android or/and closed Win mobile 7, I'll definitely leave developing for Nokia
From developers point of view, Symbian is best mobile OS on market right now. It has lowest power and CPU consumtion, true multitask etc
Getting rid of such promized thing just because of so called "aged UI" (???) its at leats stupid

Re: Nokia Wtih Symbian or MeeGo

Even I am also worried about the future development on Nokia Phones. Though we know that till now Nokia is largest number phone provider in the world, but in terms of apps some other OS has taked the lead. For developers its not important what is the number of devices available in the market, rather we thought what is the apps market for the phone.
I leaned Symbian and it took 15 months for me get some idea, on the other hand the guys who started Android/ iphone with me they are completed in just 6 months and now they are surely in profit as the apps market for the phones are good. But for me its different, I took the toughest OS to learn and when I am bit ready for the market , i feel the market is no more for Symbian. After a hard work I could get hand on experience on Symbian now if I can't get the benefit out of these at least for next 5 years then my learing will go in vain. and also it would be tough enough for me to hold the pasience and learn another new technology.
we symbian developers would like to know what Nokia is taking steps for these?
this is nothing to blame Nokia or any other, its just to know is there anything that Nokia is doing so that the developer will come out from the risk. For a long time we are waiting to see some change in the market .

We want Nokia to come back again like before.

The Reuters link in the SF article does not even work for me. But thanks to Neil now we know that Reuters wrote "it might be dumped, but it might be still shown, on Friday, perhaps on Sunday, or not". Very specific.
