    signing and packing sis file

    Hi,
i got the .cert file, key file and .sis file from OVI store.
After that how i use the sis file in my application?
i Used that sis file in my pkg file like this
    @"PenguiBooksIndia Pvt.Ltd_OviPublishCert_Feb23.sis",(0x2002CCCD)
Here i Used the UID what OVI store provided. But it showing the error, "error: different UID"
how i will get the UID for OVI given sis file?

You are making some confusion, the UID you use belongs to the Smart Installer bootstrap. You are not supposed to edit the *_installer.pkg file generated by Qt toolchain,or, if you have created the wrapper *.pkg script yourself you are inserting your SIS file in the wrong place.

Step by step instructions for using the Smart Installer are available at: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/smart-installer/index.html

Re: signing and packing sis file

Literally the message says that the UID of PenguiBooksIndia Pvt.Ltd_OviPublishCert_Feb23.sis is not 2002CCCD.
Technically you should not use that file for embedding. Install it on your developer phone(s) separately.

Lucian: based on the name, I assume it is the "Certificate Installer" stuff, which enables the device to accept a given devcert. If so, it should not be embedded anywhere. According to his other thread, http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...with-installer, Akki.sulochana is not using Qt.

You are very likely right, I focused on the first part of the sis name and thought that to be their app, signed with the devcert. Well, that does it, as you said all that needs to be done is for that sis to be installed on the test device then apps signed with the provided certificate and key will work on that device too.

Re: signing and packing sis file

But my doubt is, what do I submit for publishing on Ovi store now ? Just my application.sis ?(without embedding PenguiBooksIndia Pvt.Ltd_OviPublishCert_Feb23.sis) ?

Does Ovi store modify my application.sis file , after I submit, so that anybody can download and use it ? because I could not run it on my test device without the PenguiBooksIndia Pvt.Ltd_OviPublishCert_Feb23.sis.

The PenguiBooksIndia Pvt.Ltd_OviPublishCert_Feb23.sis was given to you for development purposes only and it only works on a limited set of devices, for which you have provided the IMEIs. Once you test your application, submit it to Ovi Publish and they will take care of signing it for general use.
