J2ME download via OVI: How to check license

    Hi,

when a user buys my J2ME app via OVI and downloads it:

How do I know inside the app if the user has payed the jad/jar (and not copied it from elsewhere)?

How do I get notification (email or REST) that the device IMEI and user loginName has bought the app (to be able to open server access for the app)?

    Thank you
    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
the short answer is: you can't!

    Hmm ...
When a user buys an App in OVI I would expect to get a notification,
e.g. REST call to my server or an email
containing the IMEI and loginName of the buyer so I can open server access for him

There must be a solution else the whole OVI selling makes no sense!?

Please provide more details about this process ...

You may expect it, but it doesn't happen. You do not get any notifications from individual Ovi Store for downloads/sales, and there is no Ovi Store mechanism for activation/registration keys. Read the thread that was linked in reply #2 (somewhere there, an Ovi Store/Publish rep says they're working on addressing this, but I recall that was over a year ago, and nothing has changed so far).

If you want to discuss this topic further, I suggest you use the existing thread you were pointed to, as it has the "full" history around the subject.

Re: J2ME download via OVI: How to check license

Ok, but one last question in this thread:
Is it possible to log into my OVI developer account to find out who (by customer-device-IMEI or customer-loginName or customer email address)
has bought the App so I have the chance to assing a license to him/her?

    Thank you
    Marcel

No, that is not possible, either.
