Questions about audio streaming and formats on series 60

I'd like to know if there is a way to play an audio stream over a network connection. I read somewhere that at least the 3650 MMAPI implementation wants to buffer all data before playing it. Does anyone know a way around this limitation in Java?

Another question regarding streaming, does anyone know if it's possible to play any other digitized formats other than WAV? Mainly I'd be interested in the GSM 6.10 sound format since it is much fitter for streaming over a slowish network connection than plain WAV.

So, does anyone have any ideas about these things, or do I have to do it in C++?

    any new information?

Hello, I'm also writing an audio player that takes a network input stream.

I'm seeing it work fine for tiny little samples, but not for larger files.

Perhaps you're right about its need to buffer the whole thing before playing. Grrr...
