Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

I followed the following steps to start developing Qt applications for my Nokia 5800. So I followed this link (http://doc.qt.nokia.com/latest/requi...s-symbian.html)

    I installed Perl ActivePerl-5.6.1.635-MSWin32-x86
    Then I installed S60_5th_Edition_SDK_v1_0_en
    Then I installed Carbide_cpp_v2_7_en.exe
Then I installed Qt SDK beta offline installer (1.5GB) which includes everything like Qt creator and qt mobility

But now I am not seeing Symbian device as one of the build options in Qt Creator. How do I create SIS files for my project?

Please find below the screenshot of my options page in Qt Creator

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

Symbian^1 & Symbian^3 are Symbin device targets, thus try them out. If you would really want to use the Symbian SDK on Qt Creator, you would need to install the Qt on top of the SDK.

Sorry, I did not get what you meant by installing Qt on top of the SDK. I have installed Qt on top of my Symbian SDK only already. The problem is I am unable to add symbian device as one of the target build options. Earlier, I could do that. I formatted my system and reinstalled everything now and now I lost that option.

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

Qt SDK beta is standalone Qt devellopment kit, thus you would not need to have Symbian SDKs or Carbide to be able to develop for symbian targets, Symbian^1 & Symbian^3 are the targets in there, thus you can use them to compile & run for symbian devices.

if you for some reason prefer to use Carbide with symbian SDKs, then you do not need to install Qt SDK, but uou do need to i nstall Qt separately on top of the Symbian SDK.

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

I have gone command line since IDE doesnt help on this. Following (http://doc.qt.nokia.com/latest/install-symbian.html)

I have executed qmake and it went fine. But when I executed make sis, I am getting error.
    Code:
    G:\Projects\Symbian\HelloWorld>make sis

I could not find HelloWorld.exe in that specified folder. I have no idea why it is searching for that file over there.

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

Due to no replies, I am trying to reinstall everything again. I am getting the following error while installing Qt SDK Beta 1.1. Is this the reason for which I am not able to build for symbian targets?

    The same error comes for Qt4.6.3 for Symbian^1, Symbina^3 and Qt4.7 for Symbian^1, Symbina^3

    Just a couple thoughts:

Did you uninstall everything before trying to re-install ?
Do you have administrative privileges on the machine ?

Yes. Perl, Symbian S60 SDK, Carbide.c++, Qt SDK Beta. I reset the PATH variable also.

Do you have administrative privileges on the machine ?

    Yes

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

As Symbianyucca pointed out, If you are going to develop with Qt, you don't need the Symbian S60 SDK nor Carbide.c++.

This is probably not causing the problem, but I would try installing just the needed tools first.

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

IF you are going to deply only for Symbian then you can use only
    1. Carbide C++
    2. S60 SDKs
    3. Perl
    4. JDK
or if you plan to develop for multi-platform then better to go for Qt SDK
are you trying on Winfows or other OS.

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

I want to build an application using Qt for Nokia 5800 (Symbian S60v5). Can you please tell me the list of tools that I need to install?

Currently, I have installed the following in my Windows 7 PC.
    1. ActivePerl 5.6.1
    2. Symbian SDK S60 v1.0
    3. Carbide.c++
    4. Qt SDK Beta v1.1 (1.5 GB)

Environmental setup is so confusing. There are many wiki articles each is explaining different routes. For eg,

    http://doc.qt.nokia.com/latest/install-symbian.html
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...ation_packages
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...:_Installation
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Qt_for_Symbian
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph..._Qt_on_Symbian

I have tried command line also. That also didnt help. (Please check my earlier posts in this thread). Why we do not have one single package with all necessary tools combined? It'll be easy and quick to get started on the 'actual development'

You just need Qt SDK, nothing more.

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

    Hi emaillenin,

Environmental setup is so confusing. There are many wiki articles each is explaining different routes.
Those configurations guides are previous to the release of the Nokia Qt SDK 1.0 or Qt SDK 1.1 Beta or for specific purposes.
Today, as cadig says, you only need to install the Qt SDK (and Nokia Ovi Suite :P)

Currently, I have installed the following in my Windows 7 PC.
    1. ActivePerl 5.6.1
    2. Symbian SDK S60 v1.0
    3. Carbide.c++
    4. Qt SDK Beta v1.1 (1.5 GB)
Maybe the other tools that you installed are causing conflicts (just a guess I've never installed those just Qt SDK ). Try to uninstall all, and then only install the Qt SDK 1.1 Beta.

Also note that this path is clearly expressed in the Getting Started with Qt Development section.

    Hope it helps!

Re: Deploying to Symbian Device not available from Qt Creator

    Okay,

    1. Uninstalled ActivePerl, Symbian S60 SDK v1.0, Open C/C++ Plugin, Carbide.c++, CSL ARM Toolchain, Nokia Qt SDK v1.1 Beta. Removed leftover directory contents.
    2. Reset all PATH variables.
    3. Restarted my PC.
    4. Downloaded and installed Nokia Qt SDK v1.0 (not the beta one) - 950 MB

Its good that I am able to see "Symbian device" as the target option. I created a helloworld application and it worked in the Simulator. Now I selected Symbian device and clicked Run and I got the following error.

So, I went command line and tried (http://doc.qt.nokia.com/latest/install-symbian.html)

I think perl is having some issues. So I tried to check the perl version that came with the Nokia Qt SDK,

Environmental setup is taking more than a week. Thinking about development, testing and publishing to ovi store
    Any help?
