Exclamation [moved] Nokia S60 5th Edition Emulator Problem

I apologize in advance if I posted in the wrong section. I am new here.

Hello! I have a problem with my Nokia S60 5th Edition Emulator. I can run it but it only shows blank screen and it closes after a few seconds. I have tried using N97 Emulator too and same problem. I installed everything in default path and I'm running on Windows 7. Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check if the logfile of the emulator contains something (http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...ecurity_issues, http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Epocwind.out)
Do not worry about Perl and Java now, they do not affect startup of the the emulator (Perl problems may arise when compiling C++ code, and Java problems may appear when using certain features of the emulator, when it runs already).

Thank you for the responding. I checked the log file and it does contain something.

Sorry for the vague wording. So, you should check what that "something" actually is. The last lines probably say what kind of error leads to shutting down the emulator.

Re: [moved] Nokia S60 5th Edition Emulator Problem

Since it is Windows 7, the issue may have something to do with DEP (Data Execution Prevention) settings. Try lowering them for a test (Computer Properties, Advanced system settings, Performance, Data Execution Prevention, and toggle it to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only").
A few lines before the end an audio server dies, that may indicate audio driver problems (your audio hardware may work fine, just the emulator does not like it), sometimes it happens with RealTek audio hardware of laptops/notebooks. You can try temporarily disabling audio in the Device Manager, however it should not be a matter for this emulator as I know.
By the way, is it 32 or 64-bit Windows?
You can read about several other tips and tricks in this article: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph..._Windows_Vista - just filter the advices a bit, since Windows 7 is not exactly the same as Vista.

Oh it worked! Disabling the Realtek Audio Driver solved the problem. Thank you very much for the help. I really appreciate it. :)

Re: [moved] Nokia S60 5th Edition Emulator Problem

Now you can try to build some Symbian C++ example, and it will quickly become clear if Perl 5.12 is fine or not. If not, you will encounter error messages about "New" operator in Perl scripts, they will complain about "bareword" in this case. But this SDK is new enough, so it may work fine with Perl 5.12.
