FL Platform Services and installation directory

    Ciao,

I wanted to have feedback on the following issues.
Using FL Platform services (GPS service) in an application where do you install the swf?
Also as Flash IDE pusblishing settings are you using Access Local Files Only ?

Trying to figure out the best (right?) way to fix some issues I am having with an application.

    Thanks
    Alessandro

Re: FL Platform Services and installation directory

    Hi Biskero,
I tried your application QUI and able to reproduce the error in my N8. I did few tests and find the following :
1- I created a sample that just look for GPS Location and trace it on the screen using Platform Services GPS APIs.
2- If i create a Symbian C++ stub of the content, then it doesnt work fine.
3- If i create a Symbian Launcher of the content, then it is working fine on my side.
Just give it a try and let me know if the results are positive at your side.

    GPSTest_S60
Note: Wait for like 5 seconds after pressing the "get location" button to retrieve the GPS longitude and latitude.

If it doesnt work , then we have to use either Flash Lite 4 GeoLocation APIs or Platform Services GPS APIs through WRT.

    Best Regards,
    SajiSoft

    Ciao,

so you are saying that the Online Packeger creates a launcher (stub) that has issues while create a direct laucher (old way) it's fine.
Funny thing, is that I have the application working on my E7.
OVI Qa send me an email (failed app) for specific firmwares.

Will test your app as soon as I can, cannot get out now!

Do you thing installing on a Trusted folder might change things?

Re: FL Platform Services and installation directory

    Hi Biskero,
According to my knowledge, Online Packager do use swf launcher technique as well . but dont know whether they use private folder for installation of SWF or not as i used the private folder and private folder do solves security issues.
Funny thing, is that I have the application working on my E7.
Smells fishy. May be a bug in some specific N8 version ? but we have 2 more options as discussed before.

AFAIK installing content in trusted folder must not be the issue here as from Flash Lite 3.1 to onwards we don't have to worry about publish settings because the content do works in either way. However, i think just few more tests are enough to solve this issue. For a quick fix,you can send me an email with a testing swf (which is not working on your N8 ,once get packed in SIS) and i will go for testing and fixing it.

Re: FL Platform Services and installation directory

    Ciao,

to test on your N8 just downlaod QUI from OVI Store.
I do not install it on private folder (what do you use as install directory usually?)
From the online packager we can set a install folder so I could test that.

I can send you the swf for testing if you want. your email?

Re: FL Platform Services and installation directory

    Hi Biskero,
I downloaded and tested your QUI application from OVI Store and also reported (in the first reply of this thread) that i am able to reproduce the error i.e no GPS data is visible there.
I do not install it on private folder (what do you use as install directory usually?)
I do use private directory always as no other application can access this directory .
    your email?
